国の重要文化財に指定されている、加賀藩祖前田利家公と正室のお松の方を祀る神社。
和漢洋折衷の3層式で、明治初期に建てられた数少ない擬洋風建築遺構の神社です。
3層目には、ギヤマンというステンドグラスがはめ込まれ、夕日に映える頃や、日没から午後10時までの明かりが点灯する頃が、幻想的な雰囲気を味わえ、とても美しく光る一番の見所。
毎週土曜日の夜には、「ライトアップバス」という金沢の主なライトアップスポットを巡るがバスが運行されており、そのルートには尾山神社も含まれています。

This shrine is dedicated to founder of the Kaga Domain Maeda Toshiie and his wife O-Matsu, and is nationally designated as an important cultural property. The shrine dates back to the early Meiji era (1868–1912), and the main gate is a rare example of shrine architecture combining Japanese, Chinese, and European architectural styles. The top of the main gate is decorated with stained glass that sparkles in the setting sun; after sunset, the stained glass is lit up until 22:00, giving this old shrine a magical atmosphere. On Saturday evenings, there is a bus in Kanazawa known as the Light-Up Bus with routes that pass a number of lit-up spots throughout the city, and Oyama Shrine is along both routes.
